Town Centre
Because Bracknell is a so-called new town it has a purpose-built pedestrian centre served with some remarkably large and spacious multistorey carparks. The centre has 2 main squares and a series of pedestrian streets. Service vehicles access the town by means of service yards that link to a one-way clockwise ring road. Car parking is also primarily accesible from this link road, with walkways, lifts and escalators providing access to the shops.
One of those car parks
Princess Square
This is the main indoor shopping centre in Bracknell. It has a gallery level with less formal craft-type retailers and direct access to it's large multi-storey carpark. Downstairs you will find many familiar shops.

Charles Square and the Town Centre
Charles Square is the other Square that makes up the main Town Centre of Bracknell, it also has a gallery and an escalator link to the Charles Square Car Park. Charles Square features a combined clock and fountain and more big name high street shops. As with Princess square the smaller specialist shops are located in the gallery, which is linked to the main square with a striking spiral ramp which gives a good view of the fountain/clock.
Fountain Sculpture
To the north of Charles Square runs High Street, although it isn't a traditional High Street at all, this was swallowed up when the new Town centre was built in the late 1960's and early 1970s. Where the High Street passes Charles Square there is a large bandstand which is used mainly on Saturdays - not usually for bands. At the western end of High Street stands an unusual sculpture, outside The Bull public house. Broadway runs parallel to High Street, from the library and Police Station to the Market, the majority of which is indoors.
Corner Shop
The picture above shows one of the only old shops in Bracknell. Something of an institution, located near the bus station and known as Mrs Murphy's.
Peel Retail Park
This contains larger warehouse stores and a surface car park. Located just south of The Point centre.
Out of Town
Tesco Superstores
Bracknell has got (so far!) two large out-of-town Tesco stores, designed with the motorist in mind. The first is located at Martins Heron, close to the railway station. The second, newer store is in Bracknell's newest region of Jigs Lane.
Great Hollands Shopping Centre
This contains a few shops and supplements the main town centre to provide regional shopping for the Great Hollands area. Useful for people without the use of a car.
